88% of winter crops have grown in the fields of the Rostov region

Almost 90% of winter crops have grown in the fields of the Rostov region. This was reported in the Don government, referring to Konstantin Rachalovsky, Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region and Minister of Agriculture and Food.
The total acreage under winter grain crops on the Don is almost 2.9 million hectares.
"According to operational information, winter crops have grown on an area of 2.51 million hectares, or 88% of all crops. Throughout the south of Russia, not excluding the Rostov region, in January the background air temperature was 2-7 degrees above the winter norm. In places in the Azov, southern and central regions, winter crops continue to grow weakly during the daytime. And now the work of agronomists is focused on the winter field. The main task during this period is to prevent the death of winter crops. Special attention should be paid this year to the correct selection of the timing and types of early spring fertilizing to create favorable conditions for crops to come out of overwintering," said Konstantin Rachalovsky, Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region and Minister of Agriculture and Food.
For this purpose, the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, together with the Rosselkhoznadzor, the Rostovsky State Agrochemical Service Center and scientific institutions, conduct cluster seminars to improve the skills of managers, agronomists of agricultural enterprises and farmers of the Rostov region.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food noted that farmers in the Don region continue harvesting seeds of spring crops for spring sowing. Of the required 130 thousand tons, over 62 thousand have already been harvested, which is about 48%. Seed preparation and quality control are carried out in accordance with the working schedule of agricultural enterprises.
